A "babbekistje" from Marken. Size : 28 x 21 x 18 cm. This type of painted wooden box has only been found on the island of Marken. Originally they were imported from Southern Germany. They were used to keep childrens clothing from the traditional dress. This particular box still has some of these dress parts. The box was made around 1850 and still has its original colours.
