An extremely rare brass cherub carrying a globe. Dutch 17th/18th C.

Ref.:
22103

A brass cherub. Overall height: (including foot) 21 cm. Height of the cherub itself: 9 cm. Probably this statue belonged to a 17th C Zaandam clock. The nocturnal globe is usually carried by a very strong adult Atlas. A cherub in this position is quite unusual. The cherub has visible difficulties under the heavy burden on his shoulders. The face is very well shaped in his expression. Most likely Zaandam area 17th C.
