A very large schoolbox. Overall length 59 cm. Width 24 cm. Depth 10 cm. The entire box, also the back is painted in "trompe l'oeil" mahogany. On the lid:" ANNO 1876 " and the initials "C.J.". Schoolboxes of this size are rare. Probably the box was used by the schoolmaster himself. The box is in mint condition. Most likely Zaandam area.
