Ref.:

A schoolbox. Long 50 cm. Wide 27 cm. Deep 10 cm. From the province of Zeeland. Made of oak. In front the initials "WBM". In pristine condition. Schoolboxes from Zeeland are rare and entirely different from the much more common Frisian boxes. Oakwood is predominant whereas the Frisian boxes are made of sapwood. The hinges are nicely forged. The box only opens half when the lid is lowered. Rare and in mint condition. Made around 1750.
