An elaborately decorated 18th C. Frisian ellrule with a silver end.

A decorated ellrule. Total length 84,5 cm. Length of measuring part 70 cm. Length of silver point 6,5 cm. The rule is decorated with kerbschnitt in nine different varieties on three sides. The handle is beautifully twisted. One side, the one used for measuring, is carved with the owners initials "T.R.U.". The elaborate and different decorations makes this a very rare item. Most likely made in Friesland, it dates back to the middle of the 18th century.
