A rare bridegrooms pipehead cut from a coquillanut. The lid is screwed on a "Meerschaum"- lined interior. The finely cut head shows farmers and farmes wives. One scene shows a fat lady trying to steal a purse from a drinking man. The lid is crowned by a peasant girl. Overall height of the pipehead including the lid: 11cm. Dutch late 18th C.
