A nicely carved wooden 18th C. Dutch knitting sheath.

A knitting sheath. Overall length 21 cm. Nicely carved all around. This type of object was used mainly by men, notably shepherds. The sheath was inserted in the belt thus providing a possibility for knitting with three needles. This sheath is in mint condition and was made towards the end of the eightteenth century in the Low Countries.
