A painted oval wooden box. Size 45x25x19 cm. Decorated with a pastoral landscape with a lady shepherd and a lamb. Above the text: "Bin ich müd setz ich mich nieder und sing frohe Schäferlieder" (When I am tired I sit down and sing merry shepherds-songs"). In perfect condition. Southern Germany, early 19th C. On the bottom an old label of an antique shop in Groningen.
