A large painted "Hindelooper" butte. Size: 42 cm. wide, 24 cm. deep and 15 cm. high. The painting is typical for Hindeloopen with a girl and birds. With original wrought iron lock. It is assumed that these boxes were imported from Norway and subsequently painted in Hindeloopen. In overall good condition with several signs of use. Friesland, mid-18th century.
