A Dutch flat iron dated 1858.

A flat iron. Length 15 cm. Overall height 15 cm. The body made of heavy cast iron. Weight 2,5 kg. With opening in the rear to insert hot coal. On top the initials of the owner "J.V" and the date "1858", brass hammered into the iron with a damascene technique. The front stem also decorated with the same technique on all sides with brass and copper. Mint condition. Southern Netherlands, mid 19th C.
