A rare diorama. Measuring 11 x 9,5 x 3 cm. Entirely made of bone. This is typical for the first of a famous family of sculptors from Leyden. Cornelis Bavelaar the Elder was born in Leyden in 1747 and died in the same city in 1830. He worked only with bone. The next generations made diorama's in wood. This diorama shows a landscape with ships, a cow and a peasant.
