A serving tray. Long 42 cm. Wide 30 cm. High 10 cm. Typical Zaandam construction with 24 wooden staves
held together with 4 willow wicker. Flat bottom in two parts on which a delicately painted scene of a famous story from the Dutch history namely the stay of a ships crew on the Russian Nova Zembla in the winter of 1569-1597. On the right four men fighting a polar bear. In the middle a whale and on the horizon a ship with thr Dutch flag. The tray is in mint condition and extremely rare.
