An 18th C. Dutch beautifully iridescent wine bottle from a shipwreck.

A "Kattekop". High 16 cm. Maximum diameter 15 cm. Weight 850 gram. This type of wine bottle was called "Kattekop" (Cats Head). It was found in a Dutch 18th C shipswreck near the former Ceylon, now Shri Lanka. Due to the influence of tropical sea water over many centuries it has acquired a beautiful iridescent patina. The bottle is in mint condition.
