An 18th C. hand forged wheelwrights double caliper.

A double caliper. Overall length 34 cm. Hand forged and with an early massive joint. With owners initials "O.R." (see photo). In very good working condition. This type of double caliper is quite rare and the ones in existence are mostly 19th C. The form of the joint suggests an earlier production. Dutch or French, late 18th C.
