A "Babbekistje". Long 22,5 cm. Wide 17,5 cm. High 14 cm. This typical painted "folk art" box is exclusively found on the island "Marken" in the "Zuiderzee". They were used to store childrens traditional clothing, called "babbetjes" or "baukjes". This box is in pristine condition. Original colours, no damages, repairs or restorations. It can be dated around the middle of the nineteenth Century.
