A large circular container. High (including handles) 30 cm. Diameter 55 cm. Consisting of 21 oak staves, held together with two iron bands. The container and its lid extensively painted with classical "Hindeloopen" motives: flowers, guirlandes and birds. Probably used to contain butter for a large group of people. The item is in very good condition with minimal signs of use. It was made in Hindeloopen in Friesland around 1800.
