A painted box. Long 40 cm. Wide 20 cm. High 24 cm. Entirely painted with "faux-bois" mahogany. On the lid the initials "L.K." most likely of the lady who owned the box. The box is locked with a key and two small hooks. The interior is painted in bright orange and has on the inside of the lid a small mirror. Divided into several compartments and two small drawers. This type of box was used to store "kappen", the parts of traditional dress. This box, still containing several of them, was used in the region of North Holland called "West Friesland". The box is in mint condition.
